Privacy Policy

Century Yuasa Batteries Pty Ltd (ABN 66 009 685 232) and its related body corporate (together “CYB”, “we”, “our” or “us”) recognise the importance of protecting the privacy and the rights of individuals in relation to their personal information. This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which CYB collects, uses, maintains and discloses personal information, whether collected from users of the website ("Site"), from customers who purchase products via the Site or at CYB stores or any other individual with whom we deal.

What is personal information?

When used in this Privacy Policy, the term “personal information” has the meaning given to it in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“the Act”). In general terms, it is any information that can be used to personally identify you. This may include your name, address, telephone number, email address and profession or occupation. What personal information does CYB collect?

The kinds of personal information that we collect and hold about you will depend on your interaction with us.  The types of personal information we collect and hold about you include your:

  • facsimile number;
  • age or date of birth; and
  • details of the products and services that you have acquired from us or which you have enquired about, together with any additional information necessary to deliver those products and services and to respond to your enquiries.

We may collect other information about you whenever you interact with our Site including the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about your means of connection to our Site (such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information).

How do we collect personal information?

Sharing your personal information

Depending on the dealings you have with us, we may disclose your personal information:

  • within CYB, including between Century Yuasa Batteries Pty Ltd and subsidiaries of Century Yuasa Batteries Pty Ltd;
  • to our employees, our contractors or service providers for the purposes of operating our Site or our business, fulfilling orders and other requests made by you, and to otherwise receive services provided to us by third parties, including, without limitation, web hosting providers, IT systems administrators, mailing houses, couriers, payment processors, data entry service providers, electronic network administrators, debt collectors, and professional advisors such as accountants, solicitors, business advisors and consultants;
  • to suppliers and other third parties with whom we have commercial relationships, for business, marketing, and related purposes; and
  • any organisation for any authorised purpose with your express consent.
  • Other than as specified in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal information regarding visitors to our Site and our customers with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

Do we disclose personal information to anyone outside Australia?

Being part of a global group, CYB may share your personal information with our affiliates within the GS Yuasa Corporation. The countries in which our overseas affiliated are located are Japan, USA, Europe, China, Indonesia and Thailand.

Direct Marketing materials

We may send you direct marketing communications and information about our products and services that we consider may be of interest to you. These communications may be sent in various forms, including mail, SMS, fax and email, in accordance with applicable marketing laws, such as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). If you indicate a preference for a method of communication, we will endeavour to use that method whenever practical to do so. In addition, at any time you may opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us by contacting us (see the details below) or by using opt-out facilities provided in the marketing communications. We will then ensure that your name is removed from our mailing list within a reasonable time.

We do not provide your personal information to other organisations for the purposes of direct marketing.

Web browser cookies

Our Site may use "cookies" to enhance your use and experience of our Site. A “cookie” is a small summary file containing a unique ID number. Your web browser places cookies on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information. CYB has the discretion to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any updates will become effective upon posting to the Site. When we do make an update, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage you to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information that we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
